i got this piece of painted fabric today for 50 cents. it makes me happy. i still have to make a pillow out of it but i’m really just fine with pretending.

i had nothing to do with it. the unibrow and giant brain are all marc’s. (we have bangs for a reason.)
(and yes. she’d just finished eating. you can always tell.)
complete with tintin and stinky face.
jael has lost three pairs of shoes in the last week. and before that she threw her crocs in the river. so i finally broke down yesterday and went to target. we ♥ sparkle shoes.
every girl should have some. and indeed they shall. as long as they make them, i will buy them. they just don’t come in my size. well, at least at target. i’m sure they are lurking online somewhere. but i imagine it’s bad enough that we have the same haircut.
which reminds me, i think i overdid it on the bangs. i finally grow them out and then i chop them too wide again. some people shouldn’t have scissors.
and *some* people, not naming names or anything, shouldn’t buy all of the children their own personal scissors and then spread them all over the house.
doesn’t this face say “trouble” in no uncertain terms?
now isn’t that the best news ever? due january 9th. we can’t wait.
to be named, of course, after the innovative and quick thinking prostitute from the book of joshua. everybody needs one.
my husband on the other hand votes for the name ruby. and while i can imagine many prostitutes went by that name as well, i doubt any were as thrifty.
p.s. here is a fun little write-up on rahab and her undervalued assets. she was really quite remarkable.
isn’t that just fabulous and exciting? becca is right though, the white shows dirt evil-like. i will have to wash my hands to make my bed in the morning. but it sleeps like a dream. it’s absolutely the softest most poofiest blanket i have ever had. i think you should get one too. just plan on spending an hour steaming it when you un-suction it out of it’s tiny packaging.
i painted a few pieces of furniture white to go with and have a few more to go. i am on the lookout for some bigger 70′s wall art to go above the bed. which i will probably also paint white. or these. and i still need to sew white balloon shades and order a dead sheep for the floor. but it’s been fun so far. nothing cheers a body up like starting a new project.
jael went to giabella’s birthday last weekend. it was darling. jael still runs around in her butterfly wings completely enchanted with herself.
gia was jael’s consorting cupcake criminal at her last birthday. i think they are wicked cute together.
the young ladies could get used to being waited on. their inner princesses came out immediately. they loved it.
jael even loved her antennas. she didn’t take them off for two days.
they read the hungry caterpillar and practiced turning into butterflies.
and after playing musical butterflies they all got prizes. much to their satisfaction.
followed by tea.
and the lemon cupcakes were delish.
i just wish i could decorate my yard with gigantic tissue flowers on a permanent basis. that would be the thing.
jael giving gia her birthday apron.
what lovely ladies.
and someday they will be all grown up.
my little brother is blogging. he up and left to ecuador for 11 months of study abroad. we’ll see if absence makes the heart grow fonder or if he ever comes home. i’m still laying down bets that he comes back married. anyone?
last night the boys and i video called him on skype. we asked to see out his window, which prompted him to take us out on his second floor balcony for a better view of the city. in the process he locked himself out. gideon and jehu thought it was hilarious. and reuben was rather comical standing out there in the dark, holding his laptop looking sheepish. eventually he had to hang up so he could climb down the wall. later he told us that the host family was upstairs at the time so they didn’t hear him knocking for a while. it’s a promising start but i’m sure he’ll settle in nicely.
