i love it when craigslist doesn’t rip my heart out.

my mother called and said she wanted to get jael a table for her birthday.  i decided to check craigslist to see what they had (children’s tables always seem to be in high demand).  but there it was.  only $25 to boot.  i called and sure enough they still had it.  what’s more, i could come out and get it that instant.  even better, it turned out to be much bigger and stouter than i imagined.  and i took home.  huzzah.

i don’t even have to pay for it.

and i love how it mimics jael’s new area rug.  when it arrives in person i will settle down and pick paint colors for everything and decide on a fabric for curtains.  i think i will have my grandpa buzz out two more stools and then paint each one a different color.  good times ahead for sure.

mmm, mommy wants.

and i have no idea why.  i just drove past one and was beset with desire.  i find this particularly strange because i don’t even like cars.  if i had money to blow i would still be driving my ’96 previa.  unless, of course, i found a vintage hearse that could accommodate seven.  then we would be talking.  maybe i could paint it pink.   so you can imagine my surprise when i drove by something made by dodge, that gets 14 mpg, and practically swooned.

it’s lovely.

tell me you think so.  simple lines with a hint of old-school styling and the whole thing comes off as virtuously clean and all muscle.  it’s probably the only $40,000 car you could drive and i wouldn’t make fun of you.

the young miss otto

is turning two.  we are so excited.  the only problem is that there is a decided shortage of two year old girls.  in fact, i have had to resort to stalking.  (i will let you know how that turns out).  in the meantime, we are going to have a few friends over with their dolls, strollers, crust-less sandwiches and small animals made out of grapes.  i will even let jael wear one of her obscenely poofy dresses.  it is bound to be fun.

also, lately i have become a fan of mypunchbowl.com.  you should try it the absolute next chance you get.  it’s just like the real deal, only less sticky and you don’t have to buy stamps.

(the stalking was a hit.  hooray, hooray!)

“i love you as much as anyone could.”

marc drug the boys out of bed early valentines morning and drove them to the store, in their pj’s, to get me flowers.  they’re a romantic bunch.  for the rest of the day i heard the boys playing downstairs with their playmobil, buying their imaginary wives presents and taking them on hot dates.  although later i think a few wives got ran over or eaten by wild beasts, accompanied by loud cries of remorse, of course.  “oh no!  wife!”  *ppsshchpplaft*

husbandry is a tricky business.  but i am sure they will get the hang of it eventually.  just like their daddy.

ahha

i remember i caught a glimpse of this once, ten years ago, and instantly liked it.  it finally dawned on me to check around for it again.  who knew a search of “two women on a park bench” was all it would take.  and it is just as catching as i remember.

only the image is a little fuzzy.  so i think i have taken it into my mind to hunt it out of the library and scan it.  and then make it into some lovely little prints for mother’s day for my lovely, mad reproducing friends.  even though the process is bound to be somewhat illegal.  fortunately my conscience is built like a tank.

how to make me ecstatic

i just like to stand in the door and stare at them.  sigh.

…no, not the girls.  i don’t know what they are doing there actually, but they do cheer the place up.  now that you mention it.

but the news is that i got new a new washer and dryer!  our friends, brian and mari, just up and gave them to us.  i thought the way to my heart was through my stomach but i may have been mistaken.  this is love.
