ice blocking

it is kind of hard to blog without a camera. more old photos. this is ice blocking a few summers ago with my siblings. they all jumped out of the car and ran up to the top of simplot hill, leaving the boys in the dust. jehu however refused to be deterred. he took off crawling as fast as he could.

after following him for a while and laughing, i decided it was cruel and carried him. but he is still my little go-getter. we went to a big park this week.  he stood back, assessed the highest possible point and made a bee line for it. maybe someday he will be a tree climber, just like his daddy and granddaddy. but whatever you do, don’t make the mistake of calling him a “big boy.” “i am not big, i is little,” he huffed at me the other day. then turning to his daddy he said, “daddy, put the little kitty in his bed.”

just back from the dentist

“i see you have some exposed root on that cap. let me test it for sensitivity by sticking some liquid nitrogen on it and you tell me if it hurts.” i should have mentioned that it hurts when i breathe and then we could have skipped that step. by the way, there is still no camera. here is an old picture of the little girl’s hand. she sat on my lap the whole time and made googly faces at the dentist. then she pooped on me.

this weekend i painted the bathroom and suctioned spiders out of cracks in the basement. and while that was fun, the rest of my house seemed to suffer from some kind of rabid entropy. now i have to go clean paint and spaghetti out of the kitchen sink and play diaper soccer. (the diaper pail is outside which sometimes makes for slow migration. unless gideon is close, then i chuck them at his head and he carries them out. like a good boy.)

jael bait

baby girl had her shower last night. it was very yummy. stephanie and kimberly made falafel with cucumber yogurt, spinach strawberry salad, all kinds of things stuffed into puff pastries, couscous, avocado filling piped into baby tomatoes, baklava and an unbelievable vegan cake. i want to go back.

while i was eating baby jael made off with all kinds of poofy girl wear. the little sweetie. just looking at this picture of her makes me want to run up stairs and slurp on her cheeks. and that is what i will do. maybe she is a passing substitute for fine finger foods.

“but i want to eat the butter.”

i am without camera this week so i thought i would just put up some classics. this is marc trying to take the saturated fat away from gideon, who apparently didn’t understand how something so good could be so bad.

both the boys could sit down and eat a whole cube if you let them. just the other day i left a tub of spread on table and when i came back it was gone. there was just jehu licking his fingers and gideon backing off the table trying to look innocent.

my latest pilgrimage to home depot

“lady, just because women dream it up doesn’t mean we make it.”

those were the days

back when boy and i kicked it in an 18 foot airstream. it was dreamy. except for the minute and a half of hot water and sharing a twin bed. then there was sharing the twin bed pregnant. naturally, the best was yet to come – sharing the bed with a minuscule, half-baked monkey who was up all night. so i don’t really miss it. at least i got the picture.

in otto news, yesterday i pulled up our half-hearted attempt at reconstituting the lawn. i will put down some new seed today. i also scrubbed all the floors, used up the last drop of laundry soap, and put in my order for 170 feet of baseboard. just have to knock out the bathroom today and call it good. then maybe i will hang out and read because i’ve been sick all week. i wonder if i have an ear infection, or if it just hurts because i can’t keep all manner of sharp, poky objects out of my ear canal. that’s my husband’s vote.

back to where we started

my house is a disaster. i packed up half of what we owned to take a trip north this weekend and now it is dumped, most unceremoniously, in the middle of the living room. it is time to divide and conquer. but first i thought i would throw up some pictures from our trip. and here are the boys looking out over payette lake.

we probably won’t be taking any more trips for a while. jael traveled like a small, hog-tied demon. next time, we make them come to us.

sweet marvelous floor

it’s in. yippee. and husband did such a good job on it too. he laid it out on the computer to make sure he didn’t have to cut any super skinny pieces and that the tiles around the edges were all the same width. now that’s how mavis likes it. he’s probably more like me and my pal monk than he’d like to think (that or he had ulterior motives, hard to say).

i won’t post any more pictures till we finish the baseboards and trim work. then i will give you some lovely before and after shots. anyways, i’m out of here. and congratulations to jill who won the pink, frou frou apron. i’m rather jealous.

happy blogiversary to me. yay.

actually, it was yesterday. 268 posts with 48,000 happy viewers. (well, except for all those hunting for porn. my apologies to those whose search for “hooters” and ended up with nursing covers. very disappointing, i understand.) which reminds me, the only reason anyone visits me is for that stinkin’ tutorial. i feel so unloved. but i did find this sweet apron at hancock fabrics to give away. i must like some of you.

just leave your name and email. i was going to sew something, i swear. but my internal calendar was over a week off. almost missed it altogether.

almost forgot, i will draw for the apron on thursday. right before i head out of town on the weekend to my little brother’s graduation.
