not half bad

my husband isn’t a pizza fan, but he thought this was yummy.

mushroom spinach pizza:

1 12″ pre-baked pizza crust

3 T olive oil

1 t sesame oil

1 c fresh spinach

8 oz mozarella

1 c fresh mushrooms

1) preheat oven to 350 degrees

2) mix oils, brush over crust (i threw in some fresh garlic too). stack the spinach leaves and slice length-wise, spread over crust. top with cheese and mushrooms (i added some fresh basil i had laying around).

3) bake 10 min.

churchy picnic

bible study just came to an end so they had a bbq picnic. i was sure to carry a pie, as promised. i think there is an allotment of screwed up pies you have to make before you can have good ones though. i should have started young.

the kids had jolly fun. jehu was ecstatic about the ‘jump jump’, hopefully i don’t ever have one so he won’t break his neck. he loved to be bounced around with all the other kids running atop of him.

and gideon liked the food. all those brownies and chips and juice – he would stand by the buffet table and say “want up, want up.” i gave him some cheetos to take home and he was a very happy man. “real food, finally. this is the best day of my life.” there is some ‘germain’ in that kid, i must say.

sewing machine cover

my mother-in-law gave me the moral support to make this. i dug out the material when she was visiting with a “by the way, while your’e here…”. and voila.  i had been putting it off for months.

scroms in towels

the boys crawl right in bed after their baths and yell “grease us like little piggies!”.  then when i whip out the lotion they carry on like i’m giving them a body wax.

kandi just posted more pictures of the ottoscroms on her site.  i’m usually too lazy to get out my camera, she takes the better pictures.

mavis

if you were wondering, i finally posted “who is mavis?”.

(this is mavis spying unforseen company when the wrong doillies are out.)

hooray!

for yard sale day. this is my new and fabulous bedstead i picked up for $20. i am very pleased.

the frame is solid wood (not veneer like some) so i was wondering what the best plan of attack was; to paint it some wonderfully obscene color or to strip it? one friend suggested that i should attach a little upholstered, rectangular panel in the recessed area. but i guess it is all hard to decide until i put up my curtains, which i will make someday as soon as i can find tangerine ball fringe.

pages

this is my favorite little kids book laying about lately. “this is how we live in the country” by verlag joseph mueller. i love all the nooks and crannies. so do the little boys, they can look at one page forever and point out all the animals and the people swimming or going to church. it takes a long time to absorb all the pictures. i especially like how on every page there are people working, the young people and the old people, but having fun too.

i don’t understand slapshod children’s books (the ones illustrated by people who apparently lost their more favored limbs and were reduced to drawing with their teeth). i have to tear the library apart looking for books with ‘real’ pictures in them. i did the exact same thing when i was little too. is this weird? i especially despised books with talking animals. i don’t care what kind of dress you put a girl horse in, she still makes for one ugly female. it’s the same with rabbits. it doesn’t work for me. besides, i don’t think god’s that great of a fan of amalgamation (personally) not to mention that it profanes the image of god in man (call me picky). but i do like these, cinderella and sleeping beauty by some woman with the name of ‘craft’. i also like ruth palmer, but i don’t know of much else, especially for boys. ships and pirates and a little bit of genghis khan would do nicely. any suggestions?

we rode our bicycles down to the boise river for a picnic (to celebrate kandi’s birthday). the boys liked that stinky nasty water.

jehu was so excited to find a friend of a manageable size. they immediately ran off together to get into trouble.
